The Ultimate Travel Gift Guide for Women
20 GIFT IDEAS FOR THE FEMALE TRAVELLER IN YOUR LIFE
It can be tricky to find the perfect gift for a well-traveled woman. Whether it’s your friend, sister, girlfriend, wife, mother, or other the goal is give her something she’ll be able to take with her to make her trip more enjoyable. But how do you separate the useful from the useless, the innovative from the overdone?
I’ve combed through tons of products and rounded up some of my own favourite items from the past year, as well as things that will be on my own Christmas list this year, to create my travel gift guide for well-travelled women.
LifeStraw Go Series
I got this handy device for my trip to Chile in 2019. With it I could refill my water bottle from just about any source and be confident that I wouldn’t get sick. It was great on that trip and has also been great on local hiking trips. The only downside is having to suck through a straw instead of tipping back the bottle to gulp.
With all of the news these days about lost and delayed baggage, getting an AirTag for my suitcase just made sense. Being able to see where my bag is gives me peace of mind. Getting that “With You” notice after I’ve boarded makes me breathe a sigh of relief. And even when I was sitting on a plane in Montreal heading to Puerto Rico and I saw that my bag was still across the airport it was still better to know than to be standing at the luggage carousel with growing dread. I was able to see exactly when my suitcase started to make its way back to me and track it right until it was delivered to my hotel.
Trtl Neck Support Travel Pillow
I used to be a memory foam travel pillow girl, but I never liked how bulky they were to deal with once I got to my destination. So then I switched to inflatable neck pillows. The key was always to inflate it on the ground so that the cabin pressure change worked in your favour. I always tried to book window seats so that I could lean on the plane’s wall to sleep with my pillow. But when I was in Austin and looking at a 10h in an aisle seat I thought it was time to try something new. The Trtl might look a bit silly but I don’t think I could ever go back. I’m naturally a side sleeper and the way the Trtl cradles my cheek allows me to really relax and sleep. And since I no longer need to lean on the plane I can book aisle seats. Best of both worlds.
Bekahizar 60L Foldable Duffel Bag
I’m a girl who likes to shop on my vacations and I’m not always the best at leaving room in my suitcase for it. Enter the collapsable duffle. If I find too many cute pairs of shoes in New York and a few too many nice tops in London I can break out the duffle and use it as my carryon. What I like about this one is that it’s a durable woven material that can stand up to being checked baggage but also packs down small enough to be tossed in a backpack.
Go Travel Pegless Washing Line
Sometimes a girl’s just gotta sink wash a few things while travelling. And when that happens you need a place to hang them to dry. Enter the legless washing line. It has hooks on either end to secure and also comes with two suction cups which can stick to shower walls.
Fancii Cool Mist Personal Mini Humidifier
The dry air of flights and hotel rooms can wreak havoc on a traveller’s skin so that’s why I love this portable humidifier. It converts a standard sized individual water bottle into a moisture-producing water tank that can be used anywhere.
Cipway Compression Packing Cubes Set
Compression cubes are no secret for making packing a more organized affair. But compression packing cubes are next-level. I’ve been singing the praises of my compression cubes for years. Sometimes every inch counts when you’re packing and being able to compress your packing cube a bit really helps. I tend to pack my “rollables” like socks, underwear, t-shirts, pjs, and leggings, in my compression cubes and save my garment folder for the items that I don’t want to roll. The cubes themselves are super lightweight so I don’t have to worry about them sending me into overweight baggage territory.
Foldable Dual Voltage Travel Hair Dreyr Mini
My fine, straight hair needs a hair dryer to look presentable after a shower so I often like to travel with a dual voltage travel hair dryer. Since I’m sometimes in Europe the dual voltage bit is really important. That way I don’t need to bring a separate voltage converter.
Neogen Real Fresh Cleansing Stick
No need to worry about liquids here if you’re flying carry on. This multi-purpose cleansing stick provides gentle exfoliation with real green tea leaves while also effectively removing and cleansing dirt and makeup to leave skin moisturized.
Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask
Upgrade your skin to a business-class complexionno matter what time your red-eye gets in, or what time your head hits the pillow. This uber-dewy, hydrating mask is noncomedogenic and soothes thirsty, stressed-out skin by steeping it in a nourishing mix of vitamins, ceramides, antioxidants, and gently exfoliating extracts.
Contoured Eye Mask
I used to think that I didn’t need an eye mask for sleeping on a plane. They dimmed the cabin lights after all. But once I decided to try it, there was no going back. At first I used flat eye masks but I never liked how they pressed against my eyelids. Switching to a contoured eye mask sealed the deal. Blocking out all the extra ambient light really does let me sleep better, and when you’re flying economy for 8 or 12 hours, every little thing helps.
Lightweight Greek Towel
I love multi-use items and my Greek towel is one of my favourites. It’s a lightweight woven cotton towel that I’ve also used as a sarong, shawl, plane blanket, and pillow. Since it’s not terry or microfibre it’s more versatile and the design is simple and classic.
Dr. Scholl’s Graduated Compression Knee High
It’s not very sexy to admit but… I get cankles. When I walk a lot or fly long distances I can end up with non-existent ankles. The best way I’ve found to prevent this is to wear compression socks. Thankfully we’re not stuck with just black, white, or beige socks anymore. There are companies out there making cute compression socks now.
