Third Time in New York in 2015
In June, I made my first trip to New York City in almost six years. Halfway through my visit, I tripped on a subway stair and sliced my toe, requiring four stitches. Thank God for my data plan so I could Google clinics that were open on a Sunday evening.
In September, myself and a friend made a quick decision to road trip to see our beloved Blue Jays take on the Yankees. There was only one of the four games we could both make: Thursday. It rained and the game was postponed. *womp*womp* I was able to go on Friday, but solo.
In November, thanks to Royal Caribbean, I’m headed back to the Big Apple. I’m going to be taking part in a short sail on one of their newest ships, Anthem of the Seas. Let’s hope nothing goes wrong on this trip! Third time’s a charm, right?
We be cruisin’
I’m going to let you in on a not so little secret: I’ve never been on a cruise. The largest boat (can I call it a boat? Is that wrong?) I’ve been on is the ferry between North Sydney, NS and Port-aux-Basques, NL. We’d make that overnight trip over and back every summer visiting family. Back when I was a kid it meant sleeping on the floor and hoping no one stepped on you. There were cabins available, but man, they were expensive for a short trip. Hardly seemed worth it. The most coveted floor spot as a youngster was the narrow A-frame formed by the backs of two sets of back-to-back reclined seats. You had to shimmy in head first and you couldn’t sit up but you were guaranteed no one would trip over you and you felt like you had a bit of privacy to sleep.
So…hardly a luxury cruise. Since then, both rules and boats have changed so there’s no more sleeping on floors, but it’s still the closest thing to a cruise that I’ve ever done. Anthem of the Seas not only has real beds in cabins for every passengers (obvs) but they have cool things like indoor skydiving and a robot bar. Seriously. A bar where your drinks are mixed by roots. Friggin’ cool. I’m pretty excited to check it all out and tell you guys about it.
Before and after the cruise I’ll be spending some more time in New York. I just can’t get enough of this city. I’m going to be exploring more of Brooklyn on this trip and I can’t wait.

Great giveaway. I just used my smartphone (I just got my first one a few months ago) on my trip to Europe last month and it was so nice to be able to check emails and figure out where I was going (I get lost so easy) while I was there. Having a data plan in the US would be great…no more wandering around for hours in a city completely confused to which way is north and which way is south….that sort of thing.

I’d be able to look up restaurant reviews, get directions and tons of other stuff.
