Sunday Snap: Peace Bridge in Calgary, AB

Peace Bridge in Calgary, Alberta, Canada
Peace Bridge is a pedestrian walkway over the Bow River in Calgary, Alberta that also has a dedicated center lane for cyclists. From afar it looks like a futuristic time warp tube (heightened at night when the inside is lit up), although with the criss-cross design, many people say that it reminds them of a Chinese finger trap. The bridge opened for use in March 2012 to make the foot and bike commute to downtown easier and while not everyone loves it, I really like the design of the bridge and think it fits in with all the public works of art in downtown Calgary.

Love the perspective from inside the bridge. I’ve seen it from a distance, but I’ve never actually walked across the peace bridge. I like the design too.
