The Next Adventure: Chicago Bound

Chicago Skyline | SuitcaseandHeels.com

It’s been awhile since my last adventure when I went horseback riding in the Rockies, hiked through Johnston Canyon, and got lost in a corn maze in Lethbridge. Today I’m off to Chicago: the land of deep dish pizza, beautiful architecture and an alien spacecraft cool works of public art.

chicago-bound-2I’ll be taking part in the first ever Women in Travel Summit and I’m looking forward to hearing blogger friends Lisa Lubin and Kay Rodriguez speak, meeting lots of awesome women and getting my learn on. It’s going to be great to connect with other female travellers.

I first visited Chicago for a couple of days in 2011 and immediately fell in love with it. It felt a bit like New York, but more down to earth and approachable. I ate deep dish pizza, got lost in the Art Institute, took a Segway zipping down Grant Park and sipped local beer while listening to the blues. I rode the downtown loop on the El just because I could. Can this trip top it?

Chicago is still in winter’s grip so no long walks on the beach or riding the ferris wheel at Navy Pier for me. I may make a return trip to the Chicago Art Institute to check out all I missed last time and to re-visit my favourites. Or maybe I should go to the Shedd Aquarium or Field Museum instead? There will definitely be shopping on the Magnificent Mile and sampling of Goose Island beer in pubs. And I couldn’t visit Chi-town without giving a hug to the Bean. Should I take a selfie in front of Wrigley Field?

If you want to follow along with my adventures in real time be sure to follow me on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Do you have any Chicago tips for me?

Welcome back to Chicago! If you have time, get down to Randolph Street / Fulton Market District and pick any restaurant down there for a great meal. My personal favorite is The Publican, try to snag brunch or dinner reservations. Enjoy!

It was so awesome to see you :) Until the next time! (We’ll get a meal together after the end, too!)

Most definitely! It’s become tradition after all. ;)

I love Chicago! I try to go there about once a year, especially since my dad is from there. I hope you enjoyed the trip!
